Lifehacks to Make School a Bit Easier

Lifehacks for High School

We all know school is a burden. You have to wake up early, make friends, complete endless homework assignments, follow the useless rules, and all the while pretend to be happy to be there. Now, don't get me wrong, school is a privilege. Many kids out there would do anything for an education, but the struggles that come with school are almost too much to bear. Hopefully, tackling each day is about to get a lot easier.

1. Invest in Cute Supplies

One of the easiest ways to make school better is to brighten your every day. Those long essays and boring class notes will be a lot easier to get through when you're writing with some pretty gel pens or on bright notebooks and cute binders. This may seem silly to some, but it definitely helps me. I am more inclined to stay organized and stay neat when I write on cute supplies. This doesn't have to be expensive either. Many improvements can be made at home. Utilizing paint, stickers, washi tape, and even scrapbook paper is a major help, and the internet is full of ideas. Search for some inspiration and get started.

2. Take Care of Yourself

From drinking LOTS of water to getting your sleep at night, taking care of yourself is most important. In fact, it's story time. At the beginning of this year, I was very excited for school. I had everything ready. I had gone shopping for clothes, I knew my schedule and my teachers well. It was going to be a great year. I had joined the soccer team and practices started a few weeks prior. Very sore from tryouts and conditioning, I started to feel very tired and get headaches all the time. I thought it was soccer getting the best of me and I ignored it. I soon realized I was dehydrated, sleep deprived, and very stressed. I was having vivid nightmares, frequent breakouts, awful headaches, and I even passed out one afternoon at practice. It was awful and could have easily been avoided had I taken care of myself. Drink lots of water, stay relaxed, and get at least eight hours of sleep each night, if not the recommended 11.

3. Spend Time on Yourself

Whether it be sports, books, movies, or after school clubs. Find yourself a hobby or two you can enjoy. It can be with friends or alone. If you can't find anything you like, go to the football games and after school events. Just find something that makes you happy and stops you from thinking of school for just a bit each day. You can go shopping with friends, take up painting, or even try your hand at a new instrument. Whatever the case, focus on yourself a bit each day, and you will thank me later.

4. Find Joy in Little Things

My next tip is finding joy in the little things. Pack yourself your favorite lunch or make coffee in the morning. Put on a cute outfit or try a new hairstyle. Finding little things that make you happy will really help you stay in a good mood throughout the school day. Spreading good vibes is contagious. The more you smile, the more others smile. School will be a better place to be when you aren't looking at everything through a bad mood.

5. Do Your Absolute Best

School can be hard, but it is important to always try your best. No matter what it is. Whether it is a simple assignment or a semester project. Trying your best on everything will ensure the best grade possible and your teachers are more likely to like you. School can be a lot harder if you have a teacher who you don't get along with. Putting forth your best effort is always the way to go.

6. Stay Positive

The very last thing I can possibly say is stay positive. Set aside a few minutes each day to write down a list of things to be grateful about. If you are having trouble in a class, ask a teacher for help. Schedule study dates with friends and give yourself a break after a long essay. Staying positive and staying on task is good for your mindset in school. If you work yourself to death, you will dread going to school, and that mindset just sets you up for failure.

I hope these tips help you. Good luck this school year :)
